Sparkle (Sparky/Sparks) is well suited to her name. She and Patience came from Valorie’s Vanners in Texas. You can see her Sire, Bandon and Dam, Brandy as the last pictures in the gallery below. Brandy was pregnant with Sparks in that picture, making it very special.

Sparkle has recently relinquished “boss mare” to Mia, but she still takes all her second in command responsibilities quite seriously when she thinks its necessary, closely watching the younger horses. She also let’s Straw wrestle with her, which he loves, as he must be careful with little BB, but he can let it all out with big beautiful Sparky. She is a ‘supermom’, speaking to her first new born even before baby was completely out of the shoot. She often is watching all three babies, and the other Mom’s seem to enjoy the break. Sparky is very loving, and feels obliged to groom you when you are grooming her. She seems to love laughter and the giggle she gets by applying her big slurpy tongue to any bare parts of your back that emerge while you are brushing her feather. She makes you feel so loved.

Sparkle is extremely attentive when she is doing a job, listening to every signal you give, and trying her best to react immediately. Turns out Sparky, well suited to her name, has a pension for ‘cutting/reining’ which our fantastic trainer, Alex, discovered. Alex has learned that Sparks loves to gallop and really set her butt to do a sliding stop. Sparks also really seemed to enjoy visiting the cattle near by, and got a big kick out of the fact that they moved back when she approached and looked at them. Now, there’s a sight to imagine…a cutting Vanner…. I also suspect Sparky will do well in low-level eventing a few years down the road, after she has some more time to mature and for her knees to completely set. Hopefully, I’ll hold up well enough to help her pursue that. While Sparky has the build of an athlete, mine is a little suspect.

Sparky’s spring 2014 foal by Gypsy Gold’s Caymus, is in our Sales Page: Leena (https://sonnetgypsyranch.com/leena.html) is a beauty with Momma’s face and eyes, unusual color and great conformation. Sparky is in foal for Spring 2015 to another wonderful Stallion, Stillwater Farm’s Deja Blue. We are looking forward to this match too.
